Do you want to be a student of God's Word? The starting point to appropriate Scripture is to take the position of a student who is eager to learn. Our perspective of desiring instruction from God’s Word will motivate us to learn all we can from it.
Psalm 119:105 - Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.
When our attitude is to be instructed by Scripture, we would not take a casual laidback approach towards it. We would pay much more careful attention to what the Scriptures actually say. We sit to learn from teachers of the Word. We write it down so that we can capture the insights they have. We will seek to memorise key verses of Scripture to retain it in our memory. We will seek to understand key principles. We will do all we can to learn.
