How is biblical restitution like?

How is biblical restitution like? In the Old Testament, restitution has to be repaid for stolen goods. Usually it is double its value. Exodus 22:3 - 4 (NIV) 3 ...“A thief must certainly make restitution, but if he has nothing, he must be sold to pay for his theft. 4“If the stolen animal is found alive in his possession—whether ox or donkey or sheep—he must pay back double.

The principle of restitution is that the owner should be repaid back not only the original costs but receive compensation for the troubles he faced due to the theft. It also teaches the thief that they must be held responsible for not only the theft but the effects of the theft.
