How you treat people shows how much you value them…

Updated: May 24, 2021

How valuable is every person? How you treat people shows how much you value them. The Scriptures declare that every person is made in the image of God. Every person bears an intrinsic worth simply because of this. Matthew 10:29-31 (NIV) 29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. 30 And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. Further, because Jesus died for every person in this world, it means there is great value that God now assigned for every human life. 1 John 2:2 (NIV) He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world. Some people believe that Jesus only died for a limited group of people. Calvinists call this Limited Atonement. Then by implication, there is little value for those excluded. In fact, that is one reason why a few centuries ago, most Christians did not see the need to evangelise heathen nations. This is not so. Jesus died for the entire world, including those who would reject Him. So every person is precious in God’s sight! Every person is precious because we bear God’s image!. Every person is valuable because Jesus died for you and I! Every person is valuable because God values us all. You are valuable. This should revolutionize the way we see others. Do we now see the value in others? Do we now see the value in ourselves? Do we now see as Jesus sees?
