Matthew 7:24 - 27 (NIV) 24“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
What is the depth of our convictions and faith in the things of God? Is it shallow such that when unbelief and doubts are thrown at us, we sink in a sea of uncertainty? Are our understanding and knowledge so shallow that it can be knocked over by criticism and tough questions or issues?
Or have we developed a resilience of faith where we are able to persevere and outlast any winds of adversity? Have we develop an intimacy of relationship with God such that our trust in Him remains unshakeable even when we do not know the answers or even when we fail to comprehend God's actions?
