Encounter with God

blog 2(134).png

If you just had your greatest encounter with God, what would you do next?

Mark 9:2 - 5 (NIV) 2 … There he was transfigured before them.  3 His clothes became dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them.  4 And there appeared before them Elijah and Moses, who were talking with Jesus. 5 Peter said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.”

Peter, James and John had a revelation of God's glory they have never experienced before.  It was a tremendous miracle before their very eyes.  Jesus shone with glory and Elijah and Moses appeared.  The two greatest prophets in the OT.  Peter was so excited about his experience of God.  "This is it. I have reached the pinnacle of my experience with God.  This is the experience of all experiences of God.  This is THE experience.  I have made it - God has counted me so close to His heart that He chose to reveal His glory to me!  So let's make 3 shelters.  So that we can continue to be in awe at this tremendous revelation.  We can all camp here.   We don't need to go any further.  Let's stay put."

Many Christians say the same thing.  Let's stop right here - in our experience of God and just enjoy it.  We are contented with our present experience with God.  No need to journey any further.    Do we put our focus on the experience and stop there?  Or do we continue to follow Jesus and let Him lead us further?
