- Goodness of God | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 18 January 2024 Goodness of God In the tapestry of life, we encounter both moments of joy and seasons of challenge. Life presents us with a beautiful blend of experiences, where laughter and tears coexist. Like the ever-changing weather, a day may begin with sunshine, only to be accompanied by a storm later on. However, amidst the ebb and flow of life, there is an unwavering truth that remains steadfast. As Psalm 23:6 (NIV) affirms, "Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever." This verse reassures us of the abiding presence of our Good, Good Father, who watches over us with boundless love and care. No matter the circumstances we face, we can find solace in the knowledge that we are never alone. Our Heavenly Father walks beside us, guiding us through both the peaks and valleys of life. He is the source of unwavering goodness, pouring His love into every facet of our existence. Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Recent Posts See All God does not leave us... - Would you be described as sincere in your faith? | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 4 May 2022 Would you be described as sincere in your faith? Would you be described as sincere in your faith? 2 Timothy 1:5 (NIV) I have been reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also. It is not how conservatively well behaved we are. It is not whether we listen to good Christian music and have nice safe Christian tastes in clothes and accessories. It is not even measured by whether we have a deep grasp of theology and have great apologetics on why we believe and what we believe. It is not even how much we have achieved in our ministry. Now, there is nothing wrong with any of the above. In fact, it would be great if you have all the above. But these are not the true measure of the sincerity of our faith, though they may provide some indicators. The sincerity of our faith is measured by the commitment we have in our hearts to Christ. Basically it means a genuine, authentic faith. The real stuff. To get to the real stuff, we have to strip away all our outer layer of Christianese. What are we going to find there? - What fuels us? | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 8 March 2023 What fuels us? What fuels us? I mean what keeps us going when it gets tough? What helps us get up even in the darkest morning, ready to give another go? When everyone else drops from exhaustion, what helps us get up on our feet again? John 4:34 (NIV) “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. It kept Him persevering even when people misunderstood His message. It kept Jesus going, even when He was rejected by many. It kept Him on course, even when His own disciple betrayed Him. It kept Him straight all the way to the cross at Calgary. Ever considered making God's will our fuel? - God's ways are higher | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 9 March 2022 God's ways are higher Have you thought about this? We often look at situations from a very limited perspective. It is simply totally inadequate when compared to God's perspective. Isa 55:9 (NIV) “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Often our perspective is over a short span of time. But God views over eternity. God sees from beginning to end. Isa 46:10 (NIV) I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come… As a result we may think something has reached its finality in outcome. But to God, it is still in progress toward His greater end. And the scope He is looking at is far broader. - Relationship with God | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 5 July 2023 Relationship with God How does our relationship with God help cultivate true contentment in us? It helps us realise that God is a good, caring Father. Jeremiah Burroughs explained, "Christian contentment is that sweet, inward, quiet, gracious frame of spirit, which freely submits to and delights in God's wise and fatherly disposal in every condition." What does that mean? Contentment is we reach that point in our faith journey where we are thankful for what we have and remain patient in the midst of challenges. Even though we don’t fully understand, but we still trust in God’s hand. Hebrews 13:5 (NIV) 5 …be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." The fact that God is with us, is sufficient. We can be contented. Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Recent Posts See All God does not leave us... - Who is our guide? | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 7 May 2025 Who is our guide? Recently, we were on a tour where our guide guided us through some ancient ruins. As there were many tours occurring at the same time, we had to continually keep our eyes on our guide. For if we were to lose sight of him, we are in danger of losing the tour group and being left behind. Who is our guide? Who are we focussing on? Hebrews 12:2 (NIV) Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith... Jesus is the author and perfecter of our faith. It is Jesus who will guide us to the journey’s end where our faith will be rewarded. But we have to choose to follow Him through the entire journey. So keep our eyes upon Jesus. Fix it on Him. Don’t lose sight of Him. I have determined that no fiery trials, no disappointments, no illness, not even death will pull my eyes from Jesus! - Building God's Church | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 2 July 2025 Building God's Church I was reminded again in my devotions that building God's Church is the greatest project we can participate in. But ultimately it is God who makes it grow. 1 Corinthians 3:6 - 8 (NIV) 6 I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. 7 So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. 8 The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor. What is important is that we understand and appreciate our role. Those who are faithful in their role will be richly rewarded. I am looking forward to seeing all those who will be rewarded! - The ultimate aim of the Christian life? | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson LIm 8 March 2023 The ultimate aim of the Christian life? What do you think is the ultimate aim of the Christian life? The Christian should aim to be Christ-like. Romans 8:29 (NIV) For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son... God’s intent from the very beginning when He made us is so that we may bear His image! As in Genesis 1:27 (NIV) So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. But it got corrupted when Adam and Eve disobeyed God. To bear His image again, we need to be transformed inside out. The transformation has begun in those of us who trust in Him and follow Him. The metamorphosis has begun but not yet complete. Let us walk with God and allow God to complete His work in us! Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Recent Posts See All God does not leave us... - I pray and I obey | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 8 March 2023 I pray and I obey Someone once asked Dr. Yonggi Cho (pastor of largest church in the world some years ago– almost 1 million.) "What is the key to your great success?" His reply was very simple “I pray and I obey” The most fitting response to undeserved blessing is unreserved obedience! Your obedience to God today determines what you’ll be for God tomorrow. Remember that God always works for our benefit when we are in obedience to him. Romans 8:28 (NIV) ...we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. - Our biggest problem... | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 6 July 2022 Our biggest problem... Do you know our biggest problem in our lives is sin? Often in the Gospels, we find that Jesus is more interested in dealing with the main problem first. And that is the old-fashion word sin. Sin is shown by our selfishness, self-centeredness. I want to do things my own way. Isa 53:6 (NIV) "We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; ..." This separates us from God. (Isa 59:2 NIV) "But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear." It is this sin that is the root of most problems in our lives and in this world today. It can only be dealt with properly when people choose to listen to God and to follow Him. The first step is to turn to God and recognise our sin. And God will forgive us. Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Recent Posts See All God does not leave us... - Don’t seek the gift and miss the Giver | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 7 August 2024 Don’t seek the gift and miss the Giver Exodus 40:36-37 (NIV) 36 In all the travels of the Israelites, whenever the cloud lifted from above the tabernacle, they would set out; 37 but if the cloud did not lift, they did not set out--until the day it lifted. The glory of God did not just dwell amongst the Israelites but led them. The Israelites were obedient to the glory of God that led them from place to place. Wherever the cloud of fire and smoke, the cloud of glory went – the people obeyed and went. They were obedient to God’s leadership. The glory of God, the presence of God is not just for us to enjoy or to get excited about. God comes that He might lead us in to His purposes. The important principle is to seek God, not the manifestation. Don’t seek the gift and miss the Giver. And if we truly seek God, then we will be obedient unto God. And God delights in such obedience. - Worship God | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 8 November 2023 Worship God When we fail to truly worship God, we fail to discover one of our key purpose. When we fail to truly worship God, we fail to reach our highest potential. One of the things that happens when we worship is something begins to realign in our souls and spirit. We touch God and God touches us deeply. Like iron dust realign in magnetic field to the north and south magnetic poles. That is why the psalmist was happiest to dwell in God’s presence. Psalms 84:10 (NIV) Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked. When we truly worship God, it brings us into a zone of fulfilment. Because that is what we were made for.
