  • God is incredibly consistent | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 6 August 2025 God is incredibly consistent One thing about God, He is incredibly consistent. Since He functions like a family in the Godhead, He designs the human race to function in families. In the same way, He has designed His Church to function like a family. Ephesians 3:14 - 15 (NIV) For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. We are encouraged to view one another as brothers and sisters. We are instructed to treat older believers as fathers and mothers. We are entreated to have sons and daughters in the faith. The language of family. How can this view of spiritual family revolutionize our attitudes towards one another? Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Recent Posts See All God does not leave us... • God journeys with us | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 1 February 2024 God journeys with us In biblical times, the good shepherd always journeys with his sheep to ensure their safety. Another reason why we should not fear is because God assures us that He journeys with us. Isaiah 41:10 (NIV) So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. God journeys with us and will be there to help us, to strengthen us, to uphold us. God does not give us a roadmap and leave us to our own devices. He actually is with us. Though the entire journey. That is why we should turn to Him first and foremost. • The Poor Imitator | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 5 June 2025 The Poor Imitator Satan imitates, but he is a poor imitator. That is why he specialises in razzamatazz, to hide the lack of quality. He aims for the quick hit, and masks the painful realities. Exo 7:11-12 (NIV) Pharaoh then summoned wise men and sorcerers, and the Egyptian magicians also did the same things by their secret arts: 12 Each one threw down his staff and it became a snake. But Aaron's staff swallowed up their staffs. Pharaoh's magicians could imitate some of God's miracles, but never match the real stuff. Beware such counterfeits. What God offers may not usually be accompanied by lights and sounds, but it brings true lasting peace, joy and righteousness. • When Pride Takes Over | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 5 March 2025 When Pride Takes Over Scriptures warn of the rise of the self-lovers in 2 Timothy 3:1-4 (NIV) 1  But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2  People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3  without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4  treacherous, rash, conceited… These self-lovers will be self-centred. And one major evidence of self-centredness is pride. Scriptures speak of those “boastful, conceited”. They think very highly of themselves, of their opinions, of their perspectives. Do we find ourselves thinking so highly of our own opinion, perspective, etc that we fail to carefully consider what others are saying to us? If so, we are in danger of too much pride in our hearts. Another major evidence is having little consideration of others. Scriptures here speak of those who are “abusive, without love, ungrateful, unforgiving, slanderous, brutal, treacherous” etc. They could not care much about others because they consider others of lesser value, compared to themselves. If they mistreat others on their way to getting what they want, so be it! Are we showing signs of such neglect of others? Could it be we consider others of lower value than ourselves? Then we need to move away from such self-centredness. Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Recent Posts See All God does not leave us... • How much do we want God? | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 2 February 2022 How much do we want God? Why is it that one Christian can come into a Sunday service and encounter God while another can sit right beside him and encounter nothing except a pesky fly? One experiences the kabod glory and is weeping, repenting, rejoicing, strengthened, etc. While another is just swatting the fly. The Scriptures assure us that if we seek God wholeheartedly, we will find Him. Jer 29:13 (NIV) You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. The more intensely, the more desperately even, we seek God - the greater the likelihood of encountering God. How much do we want God? • Are We Missing God? | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 6 August 2025 Are We Missing God? I stuck me during my devotional time that God just refuses to fit any mould. 1 Corinthians 1:22 - 24 (NIV) 22 Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, 23 but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, 24but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. The Jews expected the Saviour to be proven by signs and wonders like the time of Moses. The Greeks expect that God should be revealed by incredible eloquence of thought and wisdom. But God refuses to meet their expectations. God will be God and He will do as He pleases. It is we who need to adjust our expectations. Those who fail to adjust their expectations and demands will be doomed by their narrow-mindedness to miss God. May we re-examine our paradigms humbly. It could be that we are already missing God in some areas because we have fixed some paradigms which God never asked us to. • Who is our guide? | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 7 May 2025 Who is our guide? Recently, we were on a tour where our guide guided us through some ancient ruins. As there were many tours occurring at the same time, we had to continually keep our eyes on our guide. For if we were to lose sight of him, we are in danger of losing the tour group and being left behind. Who is our guide? Who are we focussing on? Hebrews 12:2 (NIV) Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith... Jesus is the author and perfecter of our faith. It is Jesus who will guide us to the journey’s end where our faith will be rewarded. But we have to choose to follow Him through the entire journey. So keep our eyes upon Jesus. Fix it on Him. Don’t lose sight of Him. I have determined that no fiery trials, no disappointments, no illness, not even death will pull my eyes from Jesus! • His righteous paths | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 6 December 2023 His righteous paths Psalm 23:1-3 (NIV) 1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. 2  He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3  he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
So God’s intent is to guide us into paths of righteous living. That we may live rightly before God. Further, I believe that these paths are also intended to develop righteousness in our lives. The more we choose to walk in righteous living, it actually develops our convictions for righteousness.
For we see more the benefits, the joy, the peace, the blessings that comes with righteous living. Just like exercising regularly. When we begin to feel the benefits, it encourages us and builds conviction in us about exercise. We need not fear about the nature of the paths God will guide us to. It is always paths of righteousness. Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Recent Posts See All God does not leave us... • Strengthened to Overcome | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 9 January 2025 Strengthened to Overcome God does not leave us, or abandon us during difficult times. Rather, it is through the strength of our relationship with Him that we become more like Jesus who overcame the world. 1 John 5:4 - 5 (NIV) 4for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.  5Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. The great victory we will gain in such times is our faith in God. Ironically, it is the same thing that many throw away during difficult times. Our assurance is that if we hold on to our faith in God, and don’t fall into bitterness or doubt, God will actually strengthen us at the time and manner that we need it!  Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Recent Posts See All God does not leave us...
