  • Fail to plan for the future | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 3 April 2024 Fail to plan for the future Have you ever considered that the most dangerous ideas sometimes may be the most simple, mundane ones? For most people, the more dangerous ideas are usually the more practical day to day ideas. Ideas that simple distract us and rob us of our lives? Simple ideas like, "we can relax in front of the TV and while the time away". It certainly does spend our time. Steals all our time that we could have used for good. Simple ideas like let's just enjoy life one day at a time. And fail to plan for the future. Proverbs 13:16 (TLB) A wise man thinks ahead; a fool doesn’t and even brags about it! • Do not get drunk on wine | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 3 April 2024 Do not get drunk on wine I have learnt the dangers of being conceited. Often those who are conceited are blinded to their pride and arrogance. They do not see it. As far as they are concerned they deserve to be where they are because of their giftedness or greater knowledge. Proverbs 12:15 (NIV) The way of a fool seems right to him… But in reality their boasts are often empty. 2 Peter 2:18 (NIV) For they mouth empty, boastful words… Do you know what the irony is? The sad irony is that actually they know nothing. Because they were so caught up in their own self, they failed to discern truth but got caught up in their own “discoveries”. Romans 1:22 (NIV) Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools... But because of their attitude they reject anything that does not fit their perspective. What do you think? • Protecting angel | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 6 March 2024 Protecting angel Did you know that one of the ways God can protect us with His holy angels? Every believer has at least one protecting angel. King of Aram wanted to capture Elisha. So he sent an army to Dothan and surrounded the city. Elisha’s servant panicked when he saw the army surrounding the city. But Elisha knew God had provided protection. 2 Kings 6:16-18 (NIV) 16 "Don't be afraid," the prophet answered. "Those who are with us are more than those who are with them." 17 And Elisha prayed, "O LORD, open his eyes so he may see." Then the LORD opened the servant's eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. 18 As the enemy came down toward him, Elisha prayed to the LORD, "Strike these people with blindness." So he struck them with blindness, as Elisha had asked. God can also strike down our enemies, as in Elisha’s case. • Holy discontent... | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 2 October 2024 Holy discontent... Discontent can be holy when it is God-ward. When our focus is God-ward, we begin to see from God’s perspective about situations that need to change. Isa 58:6 (NIV) Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? True fasting brings us into God’s perspective and we gain God’s discontent over unjust situations. Holy discontent is about gaining God’s discontent. Holy discontent is about having righteous attitudes towards sin, injustice, poverty, oppression, etc. Holy discontent is therefore not focussed on our own needs but the needs of others. 1 Cor 10:24 (NIV) Nobody should seek his own good, but the good of others. • God allows us to face difficult situations... | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 3 May 2023 God allows us to face difficult situations... I have come to realise that at times, God allows us to face difficult situations or to be involved in unsatisfactory situations for various reasons. It may be to test us, to reveal our true heart condition. It may be to grow us, to mature us. Heb 12:11 (NIV) No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. It may be to motivate us to bring about godly change. However, it is helpful if we can discern what God has in mind. For if we understand that God is seeking to test us or to grow us rather than for us to bring about change, then the route failings of God. • We are the clay, You are the potter | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 4 October 2023 We are the clay, You are the potter I always marvel at the way the potter models and remodels the clay in his/her hands and make something beautiful out of that clay. It is an amazing exercise! Are we likewise as pliable as the clay in the hands of the Master Potter? What is required for us to be malleable? I'd reckon it is choosing to trust the Lord. Papa God has His best for us. We are indeed the work of His hands and whatever He starts out with, He will complete it beautifully! Papa God's ways are gracious, fair and kind. As for me, I have decided to place my life in His capable hands. I'd like to be like that clay in the Master Potter's hands! Would you? A verse for reflection: Isa 64 :8 "Yet O Lord You are our Father. We are the clay, You are the potter, we are all the work of your hand."
