  • Absorbing the Word | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 2 April 2025 Absorbing the Word Have we made it a habit to absorb the Word of God into our hearts? 2 Timothy 2:2 (NIV)  And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others. Paul was referring to God’s Word that he had taught, which Timothy heard many times. Truths which Paul knew Timothy had absorbed into his heart and life. On the other hand, there are so many believers who have heard God's Word but because they failed to grasp it, or to absorb it into their hearts - it has made little difference in their lives. And consequently they are also unable to effectively teach and impart it to others. Have we heard and have we absorbed? In other words, have we understood God’s Word and has God’s Word become part of us? Will you determine today to seek to absorb God's Word as much as possible into our lives? • With Us Every Step | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 9 January 2025 With Us Every Step In biblical times, the good shepherd always journeys with his sheep to ensure their safety. Another reason why we should not fear is because God assures us that He journeys with us. Isaiah 41:10 (NIV) So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. God journeys with us and will be there to help us, to strengthen us, to uphold us. God does not give us a roadmap and leave us to our own devices. He actually is with us. Though the entire journey. That is why we should turn to Him first and foremost. • Relationship with God | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 5 July 2023 Relationship with God How does our relationship with God help cultivate true contentment in us? It helps us realise that God is a good, caring Father. Jeremiah Burroughs explained, "Christian contentment is that sweet, inward, quiet, gracious frame of spirit, which freely submits to and delights in God's wise and fatherly disposal in every condition." What does that mean? Contentment is we reach that point in our faith journey where we are thankful for what we have and remain patient in the midst of challenges. Even though we don’t fully understand, but we still trust in God’s hand. Hebrews 13:5 (NIV) 5  …be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." The fact that God is with us, is sufficient. We can be contented. • Testimonials | Wilson & Lai Ling

Hear what people said about how this ministry has helped them! Testimonials Larry Cabero (Philippines) Hope Philippines - Bacoor Center Leadership podcast, Sermons Ever since I signed up for the Wilson and Lai Ling Podcast, I was able to discuss on various topics for our PDMM in Hope Philippines. - Bacoor Center using the podcasts/notes. The PDMM members responded positively as they were able to learn more on leadership and intercession, and build better convictions. Also, I was able to incorporate some of the teachings in my preaching e.g., communicating with and listening to God. The explanations were deep but also easy to understand, which enabled me to preach it fairly well to the church. Ritchie de Leon (Philippines) Hope Philippines Church / Hope Quezon City Center Leadership Podcast / Intercession Podcast The Leadership and Intercession podcasts were truly helpful and empowering that I can't help but share it to the core team of the church. Leadership podcasts were shown during our leadership training; and the Intercession Podcasts shared with our prayer group, and we all benefited from it. • Pursuing The Lord | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 6 September 2023 Pursuing The Lord What stands out in the lives of Moses, Isaiah, Elijah, David, John, Paul, Finney and Thomas Kempis? They all came from different nationalities, education, temperament, personal qualities etc. Yet they all journeyed, each in his day and era, upon a high road of spiritual living. One thing they all had in common was their spiritual receptivity towards God! They each had an inward longing for God and they did something about it! Friends, let’s be relentless in pursuing the Lord and may we be encouraged and strengthened by Him alone! Psalm 27:8 (NIV) My heart says of you, "Seek his face!" Your face, LORD, I will seek. • Renew our minds with God's way | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 5 June 2024 Renew our minds with God's way Romans 12:1 - 2 (NIV) 1Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. 2Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. The media constantly propagates unbiblical conduct and values. Over time, the extreme and shocking has infiltrated our everyday life and made the taboo, shocking, unethical behaviours as acceptable, even cool. What was once unacceptable has become morally ambiguous. Everything is up to our choice. It is after all, our freedom to do as we like, it declares. Flirting. Sex before marriage. Co-habitation are just some of the lifestyle patterns that come from a worldly perspective. Without realising it, we absorb so much of the world’s ways and continue to keep it in our hearts and minds. Why don’t we choose to unconform from the world? Instead let us renew our minds with God’s ways! Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Recent Posts See All God does not leave us... • God Is Working On Us. | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 5 April 2023 God Is Working On Us. God is working on us. To bring us to purity and maturity. That we may be more Christlike. Like a master craftsman, He is lovingly, skilfully, patiently, deftly shaping us. Firmly, surely, sometimes seemingly rough yet always carefully chipping away at us, carving, honing, sanding to bring His glory. 2 Cor 4:17 (NIV) For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.  When God is finished it will be a great work of art. But we must cooperate with Him. Ultimately, God’s glory will be in worked in us if we realise that there has to be less of ourselves. Our selfish, self-centred, sinful self. But more of God in our lives. John 3:30 (KJV) He must increase, but I must decrease.  What do you think? • God instituted a system of restitution | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 2 February 2022 God instituted a system of restitution Something terribly missing from our justice system these days is the concept of “restitution”. God instituted a system of restitution in order to allow for sins to not only be forgiven by God, but so society can deal with the affects to sin. Ex 22:1 "If a man steals an ox or a sheep and slaughters it or sells it, he must pay back five head of cattle for the ox and four sheep for the sheep. Also, by reconciling our past, we are able to deal with the root causes of our sin. The bible doesn’t just say to “stop stealing”, but teaches us to deal with the root reasons why a person steals. Eph 4:28 (NIV) He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need. We learn that the root sins of a thief are laziness and selfishness. Too lazy to work for what the thief wants, and too selfish to care that what they steal belongs to somebody else. So in order to deal with our past stealing, we need to deal with both the laziness by “working with our own hands” and with the selfishness by “ sharing with those in need". • Shall we obey God carefully? | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 3 July 2024 Shall we obey God carefully? In terms of obeying God, to miss by a little can mean to miss by a lot. Imagine if the scientists that launch space probes to the moon were to miscalculate the trajectory by fraction of a degree. This slight error will lead to the probe missing the moon by thousands of kilometres! When we choose not to be detailed in our obedience to God, our partial obedience is not obedience, but disobedience. Sometimes going further than what God has said can also lead to disobedience! Yonggi Cho shared about a major building project where he started to build a huge new church auditorium. He felt God gave him the ok for the project. So they started building as they raised funds. But a national economic crisis occurred and the church was not able to raise enough funds. The church got stuck in the middle of the building project with huge debts. Cho sold everything he had to help pay the debt but it was so bad he became depressed and almost committed suicide. God later showed him the problem was Cho added another major building to the project which God never gave the ok for. Deuteronomy 5:33 (NIV): "Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess." • Equipped for Every Good Work | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 2 April 2025 Equipped for Every Good Work There is a huge diversity in good works that the Scriptures can equip us for. In all our different roles and responsibilities. In all these different roles we can be involved in good works by being a better person and doing good things better, to God’s glory. Matthew 5:14 - 16 (NIV) 14“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.  15Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.  16In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. Scriptures can equip us to be a better friend. A better husband or wife. A better employee or boss. A better leader. A better citizen. A better missionary. A better witness for God. So let's dig into it. Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Recent Posts See All God does not leave us... • When God calls, God will provide | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 6 September 2023 When God calls, God will provide When God wanted to have the Tabernacle of Moses built, all the necessary resources was at hand amongst the Israelites. Exodus 35:4-5 (NIV) 4 Moses said to the whole Israelite community, "This is what the LORD has commanded: 5 From what you have, take an offering for the LORD. Everyone who is willing is to bring to the LORD an offering of gold, silver and bronze… Did you notice the way God instructed the Israelites to contribute towards the tabernacle? God only instructed the Israelites to give. There was no mention of seeking external help. The Israelites were the solution to building the tabernacle. All the necessary resources resided within the Israelites themselves. God had blessed them sufficiently. They had enough to contribute towards building the tabernacle. The principle is this. God will provide sufficient resources for His purposes through His people. Of course, we can also look outside for assistance and resources. But often, when God calls, God will provide. When God calls a church to a task, a project, God will often provide from within the local church. When a wise leadership properly manages the project, there will be sufficient from within. • Sincerity of our faith | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 3 August 2022 Sincerity of our faith Did you know that God is very concerned about the sincerity of our faith? Probably more than most of us are. Hebrews 10:22 (NIV) let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. We can all look good like good Christians on the outside. I accepted Christ in 1983. And in that time, I learnt a lot of Christianese. You got to know a lot of these if you are going to be a pastor. :) And when it comes to Christian ministry – I think I’ve got quite a lot of brownie points. But you know what? At the end of the day, when I come before Christ, it is about the sincerity of my faith. Sometimes, I forget and God will remind me! What do you think?
