- The Poor Imitator | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 5 June 2025 The Poor Imitator Satan imitates, but he is a poor imitator. That is why he specialises in razzamatazz, to hide the lack of quality. He aims for the quick hit, and masks the painful realities. Exo 7:11-12 (NIV) Pharaoh then summoned wise men and sorcerers, and the Egyptian magicians also did the same things by their secret arts: 12 Each one threw down his staff and it became a snake. But Aaron's staff swallowed up their staffs. Pharaoh's magicians could imitate some of God's miracles, but never match the real stuff. Beware such counterfeits. What God offers may not usually be accompanied by lights and sounds, but it brings true lasting peace, joy and righteousness. - Renew our minds with God's way | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 5 June 2024 Renew our minds with God's way Romans 12:1 - 2 (NIV) 1Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. 2Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. The media constantly propagates unbiblical conduct and values. Over time, the extreme and shocking has infiltrated our everyday life and made the taboo, shocking, unethical behaviours as acceptable, even cool. What was once unacceptable has become morally ambiguous. Everything is up to our choice. It is after all, our freedom to do as we like, it declares. Flirting. Sex before marriage. Co-habitation are just some of the lifestyle patterns that come from a worldly perspective. Without realising it, we absorb so much of the world’s ways and continue to keep it in our hearts and minds. Why don’t we choose to unconform from the world? Instead let us renew our minds with God’s ways! Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Recent Posts See All God does not leave us... - God will take your inabilities... | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Lai Ling Lim 8 February 2023 God will take your inabilities... Jeremiah 1:4-8 (NIV) The word of the LORD came to me, saying, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” 6“Ah, Sovereign LORD,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am only a child.” God choose to use those who are normal people with personal inadequacies and challenges to be His vessels. We need to have faith in God to be used by Him despite our personal inadequacy. What are some of your personal mountain of inadequacies; inability to speak publicly, tongue tied, awkward talking to people, some ailment of some form. Don’t feel like up to it. Fear of man? Your own disability? God will take your inabilities and change them. One’s disabilities need not disqualify. - LL Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Recent Posts See All God does not leave us... - Enduring Faith | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 4 May 2022 Enduring Faith 2 Timothy 2:1 (NIV) You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. God’s desire is for His people to endure in the faith. That we will stand strong despite any onslaught of challenges upon our faith. Indeed, not only stand strong but stand tall! We are not only to huddle up and survive. But we are to be victorious, to be overcomers of the world, in our faith. Will you determine to stand tall with God? - Trust and doubts towards God? | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 6 September 2023 Trust and doubts towards God? I was pondering about this matter recently. There are times we have prayed and sought God's heart about certain situations and the outcomes were not what we may have expected. What would be our raw emotions towards God? Some may say, "God , did you hear me when I called out to you?". Do we allow doubts to entertain our minds when we have not received answers to our prayers? Do we toss between trust and doubt towards God? I am personally convicted that God's ways are much higher than our own human perspective. In the light of prayer, I am convicted to look to Papa God whom I believe is trustworthy and steadfast towards us despite how the circumstances may look like even after much prayer. By God's grace, may we remain firm as it says in the good old Book of all ages; the Bible in Isaiah 26:3-4, " You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in You. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord is Rock Eternal." Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Recent Posts See All God does not leave us... - God will provide generously | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 3 April 2024 God will provide generously 1 Timothy 6:17b (NIV) …but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. When we pursue after God first, rather than wealth – it does not mean we become poor and destitute because we run away from wealth. The Bible never speaks about fleeing from wealth. It speaks about feeling idolatry, sexual immorality, wicked deeds, greed, but never wealth. It is ok to be wealthy and God does bless some of His people to be wealthy. God will provide generously. God wants us to be able to enjoy the fruits of our labour. Isaiah 65:22 (NIV) ...For as the days of a tree, so will be the days of my people; my chosen ones will long enjoy the works of their hands. So it is fine to be wealthy, but make sure it is never at the expense of our focus on God. Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Recent Posts See All God does not leave us... - Jesus showed us on the cross... | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 8 June 2022 Jesus showed us on the cross... Jesus showed us on the cross the extent which He is willing to go. The incredible price Jesus was willing to pay to open the door for reconciliation. With the price of His life and the price of sin now reckoned to Him. In theology it is known as propitiation, where Jesus’ sacrifice at the cross fulfils the perfect justice required by a holy and righteous God. It makes it possible for God to show complete mercy without compromising His righteousness and justice against sin. 1 John 4:10 (NIV) This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. The only thing left for us to experience reconciliation with God is to place our faith upon Christ and the work He has done on the cross. - Givers will be blessed... | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 4 January 2023 Givers will be blessed... Givers will be blessed both here and in heaven. Luke 6:38 (NIV) Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” Now I want to clarify that I am not teaching a hyper-prosperity doctrine. That teaches: the more you give the more God will bless you materially, regardless of your attitude. It is giving so that you may get. Often that promotes greed. But the Bible teaches that we should give unto God for His purposes, not so that we can get a multiplied return. And when we give with the right heart, not in greed, God will bless the most. It could be materially, emotionally, spiritually or in heavenly rewards. When our heart is right, we will have no problems giving even if God does not bless us materially as we may hope. - Want to get out of survival mode? | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 8 June 2022 Want to get out of survival mode? Want to get out of survival mode? One of the keys that help us step out of the survival mode is when we recognise that God’s favour is upon us. Because we know that God is going to help us. He is going to open doors. King David had such deep assurance when he was faced with battles. Psalms 3:6 - 7 (NIV) 6 I will not fear the tens of thousands drawn up against me on every side. 7 Arise, O LORD! Deliver me, O my God! Strike all my enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked. Psalms 91:1 - 2 (NIV) 1He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. When we have a fresh purposes beating in our hearts. When we know that God’s favour is upon us – it helps us to rise up and say, “I no longer want to be in survival mode.” Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Recent Posts See All God does not leave us... - Be holy in all you do | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 5 June 2024 Be holy in all you do God’s Word challenge us in 1 Peter 1:14 - 15 (NIV) 14As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. 15But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do. The world’s perspectives and ways are earthly ways, not God’s ways. Because many of us grew up without godly parents, we often learn only from the society around us. We often think that is the only way to do things. As a result, our thinking is moulded in the world’s ways without us even realising it. Thus, we may blindly, unknowingly just follow what we knew in the past. The Bible is saying that once we lived in ignorance. We did not realise that we were being moulded in the ways of wickedness. But now that we have been enlightened, choose to be holy before God. This may mean we have to re-examine some of the ways we do things before God. Things that we grew up with. Be humble enough to let God point it out to us. Be humble enough when others point it out to us. - Are we living in adultery? | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 5 June 2025 Are we living in adultery? Are we living in adultery? Are we not realising it? James 4:4 (NIV) You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. The values of this world is in opposition to God. Because the world system is under the influence of the Devil. If we choose the world's values, we choose the values of the Devil. God cannot accept that. Many do not realise that or do not want to accept that. When we are married we must remain faithful to our spouse. If a married man has an affair with another woman - it is adultery. That's why God considers it adultery when we have an affair with this world. Is it just possible that we are living in spiritual adultery today? Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Recent Posts See All God does not leave us...
