- Don't Conform—Be Transformed | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 4 March 2026 Don't Conform—Be Transformed Romans 12:1 - 2 (NIV) 1Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. 2Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. The media constantly propagates unbiblical conduct and values. Over time, the extreme and shocking has infiltrated our everyday life and made the taboo, shocking, unethical behaviours as acceptable, even cool. What was once unacceptable has become morally ambiguous. Everything is up to our choice. It is after all, our freedom to do as we like, it declares. Flirting. Sex before marriage. Co-habitation are just some of the lifestyle patterns that come from a worldly perspective. Without realising it, we absorb so much of the world’s ways and continue to keep it in our hearts and minds. Why don’t we choose to unconform from the world? Instead let us renew our minds with God’s ways! Focus is not optional for leaders—it is a discipline. Distraction slowly drains vision, energy, and effectiveness. Like an archer silencing every noise or Nehemiah refusing to leave the wall, leaders who finish well are those who guard their focus fiercely. - A Sincere Heart Before God | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 4 February 2026 A Sincere Heart Before God Did you know that God is very concerned about the sincerity of our faith? Probably more than most of us are. Hebrews 10:22 (NIV) let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. We can all look good like good Christians on the outside. I accepted Christ in 1983. And in that time, I learnt a lot of Christianese. You got to know a lot of these if you are going to be a pastor. :) And when it comes to Christian ministry – I think I’ve got quite a lot of brownie points. But you know what? At the end of the day, when I come before Christ, it is about the sincerity of my faith. Sometimes, I forget and God will remind me! What do you think? - Are We Too Proud to Listen? | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 4 February 2026 Are We Too Proud to Listen? The conceited reject anything that does not fit their perspective. Like a huge filter, only certain things can get through. Only facts that support their perspective are accepted! In my time as a research scientist, I came into contact with a number of huge egos. Some scientist even created their own scientific journals so that they can promote their own theories more! And they reject other theories that contradict theirs. The result? Incorrect conclusions due to selective facts. Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.” (Proverbs 16:18) Do we have a rigid perspective in our hearts and write off everything else or anybody who has a different view? Without seriously attempting to understand their point of view? If so, perhaps we are having some conceit in our own hearts. - When Humility Opens the Way to God | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 4 February 2026 When Humility Opens the Way to God Humility is the antidote to being conceited. Humility begins when we begin to realise that there is much we do not know nor understand. Humility begins when we recognise we need God. And when we begin to humble ourselves, God begins to guide us. Psalms 25:9 (NIV) He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way. God will bless the humble. James 4:6 (NIV) “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Recent Posts See All Are We Too Proud to Listen? - Stir up the gift | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 4 February 2026 Stir up the gift Did you know that God will provide us gifts, but it is our responsibility to stir it aflame? Romans 12:6 - 8 (NIV) 6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. 7 If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; 8if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully. To bring it to its appropriate fruition. God gives but we need to apply it. To start using it faithfully, to learn how to use it wisely and more effectively. To activate these giftedness, it usually requires us to apply faith. It requires courage, self-discipline, etc. And sometimes we get stuck precisely because we seem to lack some of these things. Have you considered giving it a shot? Stepping out in faith, looking to God for His grace? Seeking a mentor to guide you? You might be amazed!
