- From Weakness to Influence | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 5 February 2025 From Weakness to Influence Whatever God calls us to do, He will cause us to gain the necessary influence in due time to carry out the task. Never think that we are too insignificant or too small to do the will of God. 1 Cor 1:27 (NIV) But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. It is not how strong or wise we are, but how humbly available we are. If you dare to believe the purposes of God that He reveals to you, be assured that He will open doors of opportunity. He will give you influence. For God is in-charge. Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Recent Posts See All God does not leave us... - God instituted a system of restitution | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 2 February 2022 God instituted a system of restitution Something terribly missing from our justice system these days is the concept of “restitution”. God instituted a system of restitution in order to allow for sins to not only be forgiven by God, but so society can deal with the affects to sin. Ex 22:1 "If a man steals an ox or a sheep and slaughters it or sells it, he must pay back five head of cattle for the ox and four sheep for the sheep. Also, by reconciling our past, we are able to deal with the root causes of our sin. The bible doesn’t just say to “stop stealing”, but teaches us to deal with the root reasons why a person steals. Eph 4:28 (NIV) He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need. We learn that the root sins of a thief are laziness and selfishness. Too lazy to work for what the thief wants, and too selfish to care that what they steal belongs to somebody else. So in order to deal with our past stealing, we need to deal with both the laziness by “working with our own hands” and with the selfishness by “ sharing with those in need". - Jack Hayford | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 3 May 2023 Jack Hayford When the glory of God is in a church, it will cause the church to become influential because of its impact. Jack Hayford during the early days of his church “Church on the Way” was a small congregation of 100. One day in 1971 as he was leaving the church sanctuary, he experienced the glory of God. It was as if a light glorious mist hung in the atmosphere and it was just for a moment. Things began to happen to the church and people just started coming! The church grew to over 10,000 people over the decades of his ministry. When God’s glory fills the church and as the church obediently moves in God’s purposes, there will be healing in lives, there will be nourishment for the soul, there will be power to cast out demons, power to heal the sick. There will be righteousness and purity. There will be godliness. Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Recent Posts See All God does not leave us... - Holy discontent... | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 2 October 2024 Holy discontent... Discontent can be holy when it is God-ward. When our focus is God-ward, we begin to see from God’s perspective about situations that need to change. Isa 58:6 (NIV) Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? True fasting brings us into God’s perspective and we gain God’s discontent over unjust situations. Holy discontent is about gaining God’s discontent. Holy discontent is about having righteous attitudes towards sin, injustice, poverty, oppression, etc. Holy discontent is therefore not focussed on our own needs but the needs of others. 1 Cor 10:24 (NIV) Nobody should seek his own good, but the good of others. - Shepherd above all other shepherds | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 2 October 2024 Shepherd above all other shepherds In the Old Testament times, good shepherds are known to be those who truly care for their sheep. Who care for and nurture their sheep with love. Amazingly, God is a sacrificial shepherd who is willing to give even His life for the sake of the sheep. Jesus demonstrated that at the cross. God is the shepherd above all other shepherds, because of His love for His sheep. That is why God is declared as the Great Shepherd, the Chief Shepherd. 1 Peter 5:4 (NIV) And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away. King David recognised in Psalm 23 that God is the key because He is the only one capable of caring for and leading us in the right journey. And God is not only capable, but His heart is to do so. - Our relationship with God... | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 4 September 2024 Our relationship with God... Our relationship with God is the epicentre of all our relationships. It is central, it is the focal point. Just like an earthquake has an epicentre, so all our relationships has an epicentre. The shockwaves from our relationship with God will impact upon our relationships with others. Saul’s deteriorating relationship with God led to deteriorating relationship with others, notable David and Jonathan. Those that have no relationship with God, will find all their relationships distorted. Those who have minimal relationship with God will find minimal improvements in their relationships. When we truly experience God’s mercy upon our lives and understand its significance, it will motivate us to show mercy to others – God’s way. Luke 6:36 (NIV) Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. We are enabled to be merciful because we experience God’s mercy to us. - You are worthy | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 6 December 2023 You are worthy Luke 12:6-7 are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed the very hairs on your head are all numbered. Don't be afraid, you are worth more than many sparrows. It's a wonderful feeling to know just how much our Heavenly Father loves us! We are so precious to Him, and we truly matter in His eyes. It's important that we never forget who God is and the depth of His love for us. In moments of worry or fear, let's hold onto the truth of Scripture that reminds us of our worth and God's faithful presence with us. We can find comfort in knowing that whatever challenges we face, God sees us and is always there for us. So let's take heart, my friends, and trust in our loving God who cares for us deeply. Let's hold onto these precious truths and live each day with confidence, knowing that we are cherished and loved by the Creator of the universe. - God will be our deliverer | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 2 July 2025 God will be our deliverer I take comfort in knowing always that we have a God like no other! One who is concerned enough with the cries of His people to come and take action on behalf of His people. Blessed are those who wait upon God, for God will be our deliverer. Isaiah 64:4 (NIV) 4 Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him. - Self-Love vs. God’s Love | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 5 March 2025 Self-Love vs. God’s Love It is good when we are able to love ourselves. Yet such love can be distorted too. 2 Timothy 3:1-2 (NIV) 1 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves… Here, the self-love is overboard. It is not about having a healthy self-esteem but a love centred upon oneself. A love that elevates self above God and the things of God! It is a misdirected love. When we direct our love to ourselves, over God – we begin to act out of self-will rather than towards God’s will. And that is how Adam and Even fell. Because they believed that they too can be as God and acted out of self-love. The danger in some churches today is to over-emphasise on gaining a positive self-image, having a love for oneself, etc but neglect to have it anchored upon a love for God. Some claim that it is not possible to love God without first loving himself rightly. Yet self-love is best gained through experiencing God’s love. For God’s love demonstrates true love as it should be. It is when we experience love shown to us, it is when we discover how valuable we are to God, that we begin to love ourselves rightly. - Have you ever wished you were rich? | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 3 August 2022 Have you ever wished you were rich? Have you ever wished you were rich? If only we had a fat bank account? That we could walk into a department store and buy stuff without bothering to look at the price tag? There are numerous people who dream of becoming rich. There are get rich quick programs that says, “Be a Millionaire before 30”. My Dad says the closest he ever got was to have a million hair. And to own a Mercedes, even though it was a second hand 20 year-old car! There is so much out there that urges us to get rich, invest into all kinds of wealthy generating schemes, etc. And it can all be so tempting. But have we considered carefully what the Bible have to say about all this? In order that we may walk in God's way? Matthew 6:19-20 Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. - A God-encounter... | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 6 April 2022 A God-encounter... A God-encounter can reveal a better way, mission or vision. God comes and it is revelation! It is like trying to build a little shack and God shows us a massive mansion! For example, Peter, James and John made a remarkable change in their course of action after having an amazing encounter with Jesus. They left everything behind and followed Jesus. Luke 5:8-11 (NIV) 8When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!” 9For he and all his companions were astonished at the catch of fish they had taken, 10and so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, Simon’s partners. Then Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will catch men.” 11So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him. Instead of catching fish they could be world changers. They could catch men. Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Recent Posts See All God does not leave us... - Crushed due to disappointments? | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 2 February 2022 Crushed due to disappointments? Have you ever being in situations where your faith felt like it had been crushed due to some disappointments? You have felt deflated like a balloon with all its air let out? What can you do? Exodus 5:22-23 (NIV) 22 Moses returned to the LORD and said, "O Lord, why have you brought trouble upon this people? Is this why you sent me? 23 Ever since I went to Pharaoh to speak in your name, he has brought trouble upon this people, and you have not rescued your people at all." Moses had finally gone out to confront Pharaoh. Head held high by faith, inspired by God's encouragement, only to have his wind knocked out and leave with his tail between his legs. Moses' faith took a real battering in the hands of Pharaoh. Moses was faced with failure, he was faced with rejection and revolt from the Israelites. When we are faced with disappointments in our life or ministry, when things did not turn out the way we expected - remember Moses. He too faced a very difficult situation. His disappointment was multiplied a million fold because it affected that many people. Yet Moses rebound in His faith and led the Israelites out victoriously. So can you if you rebound in your faith!
