- Do you hear His voice? | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 8 November 2023 Do you hear His voice? What benefits does a sheep receive from a shepherd? A shepherd is able to protect and care for the sheep. The shepherd feeds them, clean them and keeps them from harm. The shepherd keeps them from wandering away, from danger. Yet sheep that listen to the shepherd gets the benefits of the relationship. Sheep that ignore the shepherd, fails to taste the benefits. For how can the shepherd help the sheep if the sheep keeps ignoring or running away from the shepherd? Many want the blessings, but not the Blesser. Many want the benefits but not the relationship. Unfortunately, it does not work like that. The benefits and blessings come as a result of the relationship. It cannot be provided separate from the relationship. It is like a man saying to a woman, “I am marrying you just to get all the benefits of a wife. But I have no desire to have a real relationship with you.” How will that ever work? Where is your relationship with God today? Are you His sheep today? Do you hear His voice? John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. - Building God's Church | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 2 July 2025 Building God's Church I was reminded again in my devotions that building God's Church is the greatest project we can participate in. But ultimately it is God who makes it grow. 1 Corinthians 3:6 - 8 (NIV) 6 I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. 7 So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. 8 The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor. What is important is that we understand and appreciate our role. Those who are faithful in their role will be richly rewarded. I am looking forward to seeing all those who will be rewarded! - Worship with Creativity | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 8 October 2025 Worship with Creativity We are called to worship God with all of our creativity! God gave us creativity so that we may worship Him creatively. With every instrument that we can create. We are to make a joyful noise with them all. Psalm 98:4-6 (NIV) 4 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music; 5 make music to the LORD with the harp, with the harp and the sound of singing, 6 with trumpets and the blast of the ram's horn-- shout for joy before the LORD, the King. When you worship God in song, in dance, in music, in painting, in poems, in graphics and so forth - you begin to awaken different parts of your soul to worship God. It is like stimulating all the different parts of your brain to re-discover how to worship God. It is like stretching worship muscles you never even knew you had. All of who you are were created to worship God. Your body, soul and spirit. Every part. So worship God with all that you are! - Do we need the Shepherd today? | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson LIm 1 February 2024 Do we need the Shepherd today? Today when we hear this phrase “The Lord is my Shepherd” it sounds almost romantic. How sweet! The whole psalms 23 clearly implies that David sees himself as a sheep needing the care of God the Shepherd. Yet in David’s day, that is not necessarily a flattering admission. Rather, a humbling admission. To fully appreciate this psalm, we must understand the nature of sheep. Following is a list to describe what sheep are like: dumb, stubborn, defenceless, without a sense of direction, prone to wander, slow to recognize danger, nervous and uneasy, easily excitable and frightened. Basically, a sheep is all the things that we would not want to be! Can you imagine what it might be like when the Israelites started hearing David’s psalms? “Did you hear that new song David composed? He is considering himself like a sheep! Sheep! Those dumb, hopeless, vulnerable animals! Why would he associate himself with such animals?” Ah, but David had insight! He understood the true nature of man, which was totally dumb, vulnerable, hopeless in our sins. Just like sheep. Sheep that need the Great Shepherd. Do we need the Shepherd today? - How is biblical restitution like? | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 3 July 2024 How is biblical restitution like? How is biblical restitution like? In the Old Testament, restitution has to be repaid for stolen goods. Usually it is double its value. Exodus 22:3 - 4 (NIV) 3 ...“A thief must certainly make restitution, but if he has nothing, he must be sold to pay for his theft. 4“If the stolen animal is found alive in his possession—whether ox or donkey or sheep—he must pay back double. The principle of restitution is that the owner should be repaid back not only the original costs but receive compensation for the troubles he faced due to the theft. It also teaches the thief that they must be held responsible for not only the theft but the effects of the theft. - Retaining God's Word... | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 8 June 2022 Retaining God's Word... Matthew 13:18 - 19 (NIV) 18“Listen then to what the parable of the sower means: 19When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is the seed sown along the path. In v19, the seed that falls on the road never got to the earth. The evil one snatches it away. Why? There was no understanding. Ever sat in a lecture and you didn't understand what the lecturer was saying? Usually, you would also forget the details of what he taught and probably even the topic. Ever sat through a sermon and it was just over your head? Where you forget the details and even the sermon topic. The problem is compounded by our enemy Satan who tries to snatch away that Word from us as well. Consider doing the following: - Pray, asking God to give you understanding. - Make every reasonable effort to understand the sermons. Even if it means re-listening to it and asking more knowledgeable ones about it. - Be obedient to God's Word, submit to it. Apply it in our lives as much as possible. You will be surprised by the difference it will make. Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Recent Posts See All God does not leave us... - A new world awaits the faithful in God | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 2 July 2025 A new world awaits the faithful in God It really struck me to realise that a new world awaits the faithful in God. A new and glorious heavens and a new earth! A place so glorious that the saints would not bother to reminisce about the former. Isaiah 65:17 - 18 (NIV) 17 “Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind. 18 But be glad and rejoice forever in what I will create, for I will create Jerusalem to be a delight and its people a joy. Once we understand God's plan for this planet, we realise that trying to save the environment is admirable but a misplaced priority when compared to the priority of saving the lost. Certainly we should not destroy this earth though neglect. But we should never confuse our priorities. There will be a new and far better earth for this broken one. But there will be no new salvation for the damned. Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Recent Posts See All God does not leave us... - Our Saviour... | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 6 July 2022 Our Saviour... In the movie Superman Returns, there was a scene when Superman shares to Lois Lane about how the world sees him as a saviour. Did Superman save the day? Far from it. But the Bible tells us about Jesus in Luke 19:10 (NIV) For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost." Jesus has come to seek those of us who have lost their way, who are lost in their sins. Jesus has come to rescue us. Jesus truly saves because He is the only One who can. John 14:6 (NIV) Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. The Bible is very clear. Salvation is not to be found anywhere else except through Jesus Christ. That is a very strong assertion. This is because Jesus was specifically sent by God to save us. Whom are we trusting today to be our Saviour? Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Recent Posts See All God does not leave us...
