  • Natural wisdom and godly wisdom... | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 7 December 2022 Natural wisdom and godly wisdom... There is a difference between natural wisdom and godly wisdom. We can become rich because of natural wisdom. But natural wisdom can lead us down the path of pride, where we may begin to think too highly of ourselves. Proverbs 28:11 (NIV) 11 A rich man may be wise in his own eyes, but a poor man who has discernment sees through him. A poor man with discernment sees an arrogant man, not a wise man. One danger of having built our wealth is that we may begin to think too highly of ourselves. I am not saying only the wealthy face this problem. Many other people can become proud. But for the rich, this is a particularly strong danger. Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Recent Posts See All God does not leave us... • Wealth does not guarantee us happiness | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 7 September 2022 Wealth does not guarantee us happiness Scriptures puts it very clearly – do not put our hope in wealth. Why? For wealth is uncertain (v17a) “...not to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain...” Scriptures throw a very different light on wealth. For material wealth is a temporal asset. It will come and go. Proverbs 11:28 (NIV)  Whoever trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf. There will be those who race up the mountain of wealth and seem to bask in the limelight, but soon they fade away. Eddy Groves was the founder and CEO of ABC Learning, once one of Australia’s largest companies and one of the world’s biggest childcare provider. The company was worth $2.5 billion at one point making him one of the richest man in Australia. He lived a lavish lifestyle and was known as “Fast Eddie”. He even bought the Brisbane Bullets basketball team and made them a successful team. But in 2008, everything fell apart. ABC Learning went into bankruptcy with debts exceeding $1 billion and Eddy Groves lost almost everything. He is being pursued in court over many millions of debt right now. It was recently revealed that his marriage to his wife was a sham for business reasons. They had actually separated in 1998 but never made it known until last year. Wealth does not guarantee us happiness nor peace in our hearts. Happiness and peace can only truly be found in God. What do you think? • Perfect Timing | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 18 January 2024 Perfect Timing When we say, "God does not answer my prayers" - God says He will answer them. When the time is exactly right. And that time will be soon even if it seems like a long delay. (William Backus) In our journey of faith, it is essential that we cultivate patience as we wait before the Lord. Instead of rushing ahead, we should trust that He always has our best interests at heart. The Lord, in His infinite wisdom and love, knows the perfect timing and the perfect plan for our lives. Though we may be eager or tempted to forge our own path, it is in patiently waiting upon the Lord that we discover His divine guidance and blessings. When we exercise patience, we acknowledge our dependence on God and surrender our desires to His will. We recognize that His timing is impeccable, and His ways surpass our limited understanding. As we wait before Him, we cultivate a posture of humility and trust, knowing that He is working all things together for our good. • True Worship | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 3 January 2024 True Worship True worship is not about being compelled by external forces, it is being compelled by inner desire. John 4:23 (NIV) Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.

Most importantly it has to come from our hearts. Scriptures declare “shout for joy”. It is not just a worship shout but a shout that overflows from our joyful heart. Worship can only truly happen when we discover the joy in God. God is challenging us to come to that place in our hearts. It must come from our heart, our spirit. True worship should not be defined by how great our worship band is. It is defined by how desirous you are to worship God. • Survival mode?  | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 6 November 2024 Survival mode? Do we sometimes feel like we are in survival mode? That we are just trying to keep afloat? It may be in our work, our ministry, our family or our marriage? We are just trying to get through day by day or week by week? Gideon was in such a survival mode in Judges 6:11 (NIV) The angel of the LORD came and sat down under the oak in Ophrah that belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, where his son Gideon was threshing wheat in a winepress to keep it from the Midianites. In the same way, if we merely continue doing things the same way, we may well end up simply surviving, rather than getting out of it. We will not get out of survival cycle if we continue to do more of the same. Something has to change. Someone has to rise up. Someone has to confront the existing situation. Confront the survival mentality. God challenged Gideon to get beyond the survival mode. The question for us is this. Are we willing to change? And pay the price of change? Reflections Wilson Lim 2 July 2025 Do I tremble at His word? The Lord highlighted to me in my devotion time - do I tremble at His word? Isaiah 66:2 (NIV) “This is the one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at my word. Am I one who is humble and contrite enough in my heart before God, that I will honour and hold in utmost respect His very words? That I even tremble with reverence towards His words? Not only the Scriptures but also His spoken words? That I may be obedient and not lax about His words. • Don’t seek the gift and miss the Giver | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 7 August 2024 Don’t seek the gift and miss the Giver Exodus 40:36-37 (NIV) 36  In all the travels of the Israelites, whenever the cloud lifted from above the tabernacle, they would set out; 37  but if the cloud did not lift, they did not set out--until the day it lifted. The glory of God did not just dwell amongst the Israelites but led them. The Israelites were obedient to the glory of God that led them from place to place. Wherever the cloud of fire and smoke, the cloud of glory went – the people obeyed and went. They were obedient to God’s leadership. The glory of God, the presence of God is not just for us to enjoy or to get excited about. God comes that He might lead us in to His purposes. The important principle is to seek God, not the manifestation. Don’t seek the gift and miss the Giver. And if we truly seek God, then we will be obedient unto God. And God delights in such obedience. When we have love in our hearts and when we live a life with love for others – it is so powerful! It is like having a powerful life-generator in our lives and being able to pour that out to others! Ps. Wilson unpacks 1 Thess 4:9-10 (ESV) 9 Now concerning brotherly love you have no need for anyone to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love one another, 10 for that indeed is what you are doing to all the brothers throughout Macedonia. But we urge you, brothers, to do this more and more. < Back Now available on Apple and Spotify podcast services Wilson Lim & Lai Ling Lim Messages Listen on: More sermons 121 True Faith is Not a Formula Wilson Lim 120 Suffering: Face It or Flee It Wilson Lim 119 Purpose Over Preference Wilson Lim 118 When Little Becomes Much Wilson Lim 117 Why Does God Want A Household? • We should not give in a minimalist way... | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 6 November 2024 We should not give in a minimalist way... Exodus 36:3-5 (NIV) 3 …the people continued to bring freewill offerings morning after morning. 4 So all the skilled craftsmen who were doing all the work on the sanctuary left their work 5 and said to Moses, "The people are bringing more than enough for doing the work the LORD commanded to be done." The people continued to give morning after morning. There was an incredible line of people just lining up to give towards God’s work. Until the craftsman had to cry out “stop”. Such was the heart of the people that wanted to give more than enough for the completion of God’s work. Even the workers were generous in their time and skills commitment. We should not give in a minimalist way but in a generous way, giving more than enough. Because we desire to see the glory of God’s work. King David demonstrated this principle in his preparation for the building of God’s temple. 1 Chr 29:2 - 5 (NIV) 2With all my resources I have provided for the temple of my God—gold for the gold work, silver for the silver, bronze for the bronze, iron for the iron and wood for the wood, … and all kinds of fine stone and marble—all of these in large quantities. 3Besides, in my devotion to the temple of my God I now give my personal treasures of gold and silver for the temple of my God, over and above everything I have provided for this holy temple…” He gave with great abundance so that one day his son Solomon may build this magnificent temple for God. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we can do likewise? Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Recent Posts See All God does not leave us...
