- God wants to prepare us for glory | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 2 August 2023 God wants to prepare us for glory The Tabernacle of Moses was built by human hands according to divine instructions. God wanted man to participate in the making of the tabernacle. In the same way, we are responsible also to prepare ourselves. Not according to human instructions but divine. We are participants in preparing the vessels of glory. God wants to prepare us for glory. But we have to cooperate with God. Work hand in hand with God. We have our part in preparing for God’s glory. 2 Tim 2:20 - 21 (NIV) 20In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for noble purposes and some for ignoble. 21If a man cleanses himself from the latter, he will be an instrument for noble purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work. Hence, we should clear out things from our lives that are ignoble. Are we filling our lives with things that are not eternal? Are we filling our lives with everything else but the glory of God! - Protecting angel | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 6 March 2024 Protecting angel Did you know that one of the ways God can protect us with His holy angels? Every believer has at least one protecting angel. King of Aram wanted to capture Elisha. So he sent an army to Dothan and surrounded the city. Elisha’s servant panicked when he saw the army surrounding the city. But Elisha knew God had provided protection. 2 Kings 6:16-18 (NIV) 16 "Don't be afraid," the prophet answered. "Those who are with us are more than those who are with them." 17 And Elisha prayed, "O LORD, open his eyes so he may see." Then the LORD opened the servant's eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. 18 As the enemy came down toward him, Elisha prayed to the LORD, "Strike these people with blindness." So he struck them with blindness, as Elisha had asked. God can also strike down our enemies, as in Elisha’s case. - Who is God to you now? | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 5 October 2022 Who is God to you now? The important question is: Who is God to you now? If you consider God to be puny, then you will not take much comfort from God's promise to be with you. If you consider God to be unreliable then you will not put much trust on Him. If you consider God to be indifferent to your plight, then you will not expect much support from Him. If you consider God to be a killjoy, then you may not want His ways. On the other hand, if we remember that God is Almighty who carved a path through the Red Sea when the Israelites seemed doomed, then we would look in expectation to God's deliverance. If we remember that God is our Provider who provided manna from heaven to the Israelites in the desert, then we will look to Him for His provision. If we remember that God is a loving God who sacrificed Jesus on the cross to save us, then we will rest assured in His destiny for our lives. So what is God to you today? Zephaniah 3:17 “The Lord your God is in your midst, A victorious warrior. He will exult over you with joy, He will be quiet in His love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy. - Pursuing The Lord | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 6 September 2023 Pursuing The Lord What stands out in the lives of Moses, Isaiah, Elijah, David, John, Paul, Finney and Thomas Kempis? They all came from different nationalities, education, temperament, personal qualities etc. Yet they all journeyed, each in his day and era, upon a high road of spiritual living. One thing they all had in common was their spiritual receptivity towards God! They each had an inward longing for God and they did something about it! Friends, let’s be relentless in pursuing the Lord and may we be encouraged and strengthened by Him alone! Psalm 27:8 (NIV) My heart says of you, "Seek his face!" Your face, LORD, I will seek. - Honour the elderly | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 6 March 2024 Honour the elderly In any relationship, there needs to be mutual love and respect especially in respect to those older than us. Showing proper respect is not an Eastern Culture quality alone but is thoroughly biblical. Leviticus 19:32 (NIV) Rise in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly and revere your God. I am the LORD. Did you notice that God put in the same sentence the honouring of the elderly with the revering of God? By honouring the elderly, we are revering God and His ways. If we revere God, we would honour the elderly. Afterall, God is the infinitely elderly. In fact, so strongly does God view the importance of honouring the elderly and our parents, He puts a curse on those who dishonour their parents. Duet 27:16 (NIV) Cursed is the man who dishonors his father or his mother. Let's always show proper honour to the elderly. - Giver of Wisdom | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 5 January 2022 Giver of Wisdom Why is it many sought wisdom but fail to find it? Because they sought Wisdom but not the Giver of wisdom, God Himself. As long as they continue to reject God, as long as they reject the source of true wisdom, true wisdom cannot be found. James 1:5 (NIV) If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. We cannot separate true Wisdom from God Himself. Without God, there is no true Wisdom available. Hence, we should humble ourselves to seek God and to seek to understand His ways. When we do so, we will begin to gain wisdom. - Follow God’s way | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 6 November 2025 Follow God’s way Sin is stubborn self-will, where we have chosen to do things our way rather than God’s way. To what degree have I chosen God’s way? Not a comfortable question sometimes. Philippians 3:14 - I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. - The Blessings of Choosing Righteousness | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 6 November 2025 The Blessings of Choosing Righteousness Psalm 23:1-4 (NIV) 1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3 he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. So God’s intent is to guide us into paths of righteous living. That we may live rightly before God. Further, I believe that these paths are also intended to develop righteousness in our lives. The more we choose to walk in righteous living, it actually develops our convictions for righteousness. For we see more the benefits, the joy, the peace, the blessings that comes with righteous living. Just like exercising regularly. When we begin to feel the benefits, it encourages us and builds conviction in us about exercise. We need not fear about the nature of the paths God will guide us to. It is always paths of righteousness. Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Recent Posts See All God does not leave us... Reflections Wilson Lim 4 September 2024 Joni Eareckson Tada "Real satisfaction comes not in understanding God's motives, but in understanding His character, in trusting in His promises, and in leaning on Him and resting in Him as the Sovereign who knows what He is doing and does all things well." - Joni Eareckson Tada Developing our trust in God to that point fosters contentment.
