- How is your attitude to obeying God? | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 6 September 2023 How is your attitude to obeying God? How is your attitude to obeying God? The most fitting response to undeserved blessing is unreserved obedience! John 14:15 (NIV) “If you love me, you will obey what I command. In other words, love produces obedience, or obedience to Christ’s command is the result of genuine love. It is possible to obey Jesus words and not love Him, but it is impossible to love Him and not obey Him. Let us obey God completely because we love Him. - Givers will be blessed... | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 4 January 2023 Givers will be blessed... Givers will be blessed both here and in heaven. Luke 6:38 (NIV) Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” Now I want to clarify that I am not teaching a hyper-prosperity doctrine. That teaches: the more you give the more God will bless you materially, regardless of your attitude. It is giving so that you may get. Often that promotes greed. But the Bible teaches that we should give unto God for His purposes, not so that we can get a multiplied return. And when we give with the right heart, not in greed, God will bless the most. It could be materially, emotionally, spiritually or in heavenly rewards. When our heart is right, we will have no problems giving even if God does not bless us materially as we may hope. - I will be with you... | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 3 September 2025 I will be with you... God said to Moses in Exodus 3:12 (NIV) And God said, "I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you…" The sense of divine call increases another notch when there is a sense of God's stamp of authorisation. For sending will not amount to much if there was no accompanying authorisation. For the person sent to properly represent, they must be given authority to act on behalf of the sender. In fact the word "send" is the Heb "shalach". From this is derived the Jewish legal concept of "shaliach", who is a legally authorised representative. An old Jewish legal maxim puts it this way, "the-one-whom-a-man-sends is like the man himself." God never sends without accompanying authorisation. Jesus has sent us into the world to impact it with the Good News and through good works. To make disciples and plant churches. And God backs us up! Matt 28:18-20 (NIV) 18Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Recent Posts See All God does not leave us... - Timing can make a huge difference. | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 2 August 2023 Timing can make a huge difference. We ought to learn to carry out what God has commanded WHEN He commands. Why? Because delayed obedience is disobedience! King Saul was unable to wait for God in 1 Sam 13. He was a man who was either disobeying God, or was too eager and ended up rushing ahead of God. Obedience too early or too late can be disobedience. We need to obey God in God’s time! Watchman Nee was a preacher and writer greatly used of God in China. As a young man, he was attracted to a Christian girl, Charity Chang. But he quickly discovered that she did not share his passion for God. She was more concerned about worldly matters. God challenged him one day as he read Ps 73:25, “There is none on earth that I desire beside thee.” “You have a consuming desire upon earth. You should give up your attachment for Miss Chang. What qualification has she to be a preacher’s wife?” He tried to bargain with God. Finally, he gave in and threw himself into the ministry. He made a God-centred decision. This was not the end of the story. Years later, God worked a radical change in Charity’s life and she became a devoted follower of Christ. God caused both to cross paths again and they became man and wife! Timing can make a huge difference. - How willing are we to listen to the Spirit of God in us? | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 6 August 2025 How willing are we to listen to the Spirit of God in us? How willing are we to listen to the Spirit of God in us? Do we welcome, even seek His input? Or do we put Him in a box with our fixed logic and perspectives? For intellectuals such as myself, it is always a challenge not to constrain the Spirit with my thinking but instead to constrain myself and allow the Spirit to speak as He wishes. 1 Corinthians 2:11 - 12 (NIV) 11 For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man’s spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12 We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. If all believers do this more, there would be more unity and harmony in all our midst. Lord, may you speak and I, your humble servant, pause my thoughts till you have finished. - What are we building for God? | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 6 August 2025 What are we building for God? I have the heart of an engineer. Perhaps that is why I enjoyed my time in engineering. Even though I am no longer in CSIRO, I enjoy being an engineer for God, building His Church. So this Scripture continue to challenge me. 1 Corinthians 3:12 - 15 (NIV) 12 If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13 his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man’s work. 14 If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward. 15 If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames. What are we building for God? If we have built with pure hearts and build well, it will stand up scrutiny before God and we will receive our rewards. But if we built with impure motives, it will be burnt up and we will have little to show. Let us examine carefully what we build for Him. - Trust and doubts towards God? | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 6 September 2023 Trust and doubts towards God? I was pondering about this matter recently. There are times we have prayed and sought God's heart about certain situations and the outcomes were not what we may have expected. What would be our raw emotions towards God? Some may say, "God , did you hear me when I called out to you?". Do we allow doubts to entertain our minds when we have not received answers to our prayers? Do we toss between trust and doubt towards God? I am personally convicted that God's ways are much higher than our own human perspective. In the light of prayer, I am convicted to look to Papa God whom I believe is trustworthy and steadfast towards us despite how the circumstances may look like even after much prayer. By God's grace, may we remain firm as it says in the good old Book of all ages; the Bible in Isaiah 26:3-4, " You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in You. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord is Rock Eternal." Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Recent Posts See All God does not leave us...
