  • We listen when God speaks. | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 7 December 2022 We listen when God speaks. Exodus 7:6-7 (NIV) 6  Moses and Aaron did just as the LORD commanded them. 7  Moses was eighty years old and Aaron eighty-three when they spoke to Pharaoh. Despite their age, Aaron and Moses were ready to listen to God, because their hearts were open to God. Open hearts are open to listen, to learn and to discover. Because those with an open heart are humble enough to consider who God is and what He has to say. Because they are eager to learn and discover. I first became a Christian because I was searching for truth. Nobody pushed me. Nobody begged me to come to church. I asked to come to church. Nobody rammed the Gospel down my throat. I asked to hear the Gospel. I found God because I was open to hear God! Open hearts not only listen TO God, but listen FOR God. Difference is this. We listen when God speaks. But those who listen for God, waits for God to speak. Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Recent Posts See All God does not leave us... • The urgency of God | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 3 September 2025 The urgency of God Do we at times sense the urgency of God? God spoke to Moses to urgently go in Exodus 3:16 (NIV) 16  "Go, assemble the elders of Israel and say to them, 'The LORD, the God of your fathers--the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob-- appeared to me and said: I have watched over you and have seen what has been done to you in Egypt. The Kairos timing of God was now, God made it clear that he had heard the cry of the Israelites and now was the season to fulfil his promise of deliverance. ‘Go’ is a verb that carries an urgency to act upon God’s instruction. God was commanding Moses to go immediately. The matter was urgent to God. When there is urgency to the call it usually heightens one's sense of purpose. Not only is the mission important, it is so important and so urgent that one is compelled to act immediately. It can burn in our hearts so strongly that we cannot let it lie. Jer 20:9(NIV) …his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot. We must learn to be quick to obey. Procrastination is a sign that we do not appreciate God's timing. In other words we pride ourselves in our own sense of timing. Let us instead resonate with God's urgency in our hearts. Can we let that sense of urgency continue to burn in our hearts? Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Recent Posts See All God does not leave us... • Songs of praise | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 3 May 2023 Songs of praise Songs of praise have the power to lift our hearts in troubled times and bring assurance of future deliverance by reminding of past deliverance. That is why so many psalms were written declaring about God’s deliverance. Psa 63:7 - 8 (NIV)  Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings.  My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me. Hence, should you ever feel low in spirit, it is a good thing to give thanks. To sing songs of praise unto God. Not only do the words lift our hearts, but when we enter into God’s presence, God will minister to us as well. • Do we toss between trust and doubt towards God? | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 3 July 2024 Do we toss between trust and doubt towards God? I have been pondering this matter recently. There are times when we have prayed and sought God's heart about certain situations, and the outcomes were not what we may have expected. What would be our raw emotions towards God? Some may say, 'God, did you hear me when I called out to you?' Do we allow doubts to entertain our minds when we have not received answers to our prayers? Do we toss between trust and doubt towards God? I am personally convicted that God's ways are much higher than our own human perspective. In the light of prayer, I am convicted to look to Papa God, whom I believe is trustworthy and steadfast towards us despite how the circumstances may look, even after much prayer. By God's grace, may we remain firm, as it says in the good old Book of all ages; the Bible in Isaiah 26:3-4, 'You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast because he trusts in You. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord is the Rock Eternal.' Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Recent Posts See All God does not leave us... • Be honest to God | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 9 March 2022 Be honest to God I have come to realise that it is important to be able to talk honestly with God about issues. Exodus 5:22-23 (NIV) 22  Moses returned to the LORD and said, "O Lord, why have you brought trouble upon this people? Is this why you sent me? 23  Ever since I went to Pharaoh to speak in your name, he has brought trouble upon this people, and you have not rescued your people at all." Moses began to talk honestly before God. It was not a complaining, whining, grumbling download. But it was an honest heart to heart. Moses had valid questions and issues to raise with God. It is OK to be honest to God. To express your feelings with God. Although we should be mindful to be respectful. The prophet Habakkuk was frank with God. Hab 1:2 (NIV) How long, O LORD, must I call for help, but you do not listen? Or cry out to you, “Violence!” but you do not save? See how honest Habakkuk is to God about the situation? • Love your neighbor as yourself | Wilson & Lai Ling

Reflections Wilson Lim 7 August 2024 Love your neighbor as yourself Matthew 22:35-39 (NIV) 35  One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36  "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37  Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38  This is the first and greatest commandment. 39  And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' Do you realise that the expert of the law asked for the greatest commandment? Yet Jesus gave also the second greatest commandment. When He was not asked for it? Why? Because both are inter-related. The first without the second is incomplete. The second without the first loses its bearings. For the way we relate with God affects the way we relate with others. The quality of our relationship with God determines the quality of our relationship with others. Why? It is like a compass of our lives. A compass must be calibrated so that it points to true north. Once that is accurate, the rest of the directions on the compass will be accurate. But if a compass does not get its true north correct, every other direction will be misaligned.
