Reflections Wilson Lim 9 November 2022 We may seem insignificant amongst people. We may seem insignificant amongst people. But God knows His chosen instrument well. Despite our family background, our past, our social background, our age perhaps, or feeling like being a nobody, God makes us into somebody because of Christ. Whether we have feelings of intimidation, being overlooked, being underqualified . Jesus is impartial to all, He will use anyone to fulfil His work for the good of all. One’s significance may not just be a periodic battle, but it can be our very daily grind! Remember God’s Word when you are hit by feelings of insignificance. 1 Cor 1:27(NIV) But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. Reflections Wilson Lim 7 May 2025 Encounter with God If you just had your greatest encounter with God, what would you do next? Mark 9:2 - 5 (NIV) 2 … There he was transfigured before them. 3 His clothes became dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them. 4 And there appeared before them Elijah and Moses, who were talking with Jesus. 5 Peter said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.” Peter, James and John had a revelation of God's glory they have never experienced before. It was a tremendous miracle before their very eyes. Jesus shone with glory and Elijah and Moses appeared. The two greatest prophets in the OT. Peter was so excited about his experience of God. "This is it. I have reached the pinnacle of my experience with God. This is the experience of all experiences of God. This is THE experience. I have made it - God has counted me so close to His heart that He chose to reveal His glory to me! So let's make 3 shelters. So that we can continue to be in awe at this tremendous revelation. We can all camp here. We don't need to go any further. Let's stay put." Many Christians say the same thing. Let's stop right here - in our experience of God and just enjoy it. We are contented with our present experience with God. No need to journey any further. Do we put our focus on the experience and stop there? Reflections Wilson Lim 2 October 2024 True contentment... Carnality is a shown by worldly desire for more. It is about “I want!” It is a desire impossible to satisfy. The more we have the more we want. More shoes, better smartphones, better laptops, more expensive cars and houses! On the other hand, true contentment is not so much about whether we have all we want. True contentment is about a state of heart where there is a satisfaction, a peace with what we have. It is no longer, “I shall not want because God provides all”. Rather it is “I shall not want because my desires have been transformed.” “Truly, the secret of contentment is not having much but wanting little.” Matthew Henry. Which state are we in today? Philippians 4:11-12 (NIV): "I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want." Reflections Wilson Lim 7 August 2024 Contentment in the next life Our relationships with God helps us renew our focus on the blessed hope. The more deeply we walk with God, we realize that our journey leads heavenward. As this realisation deepens, we become less concerned about our life on this world. The pressures of this world that creates discontent will have less pull upon our hearts. The challenges of this world become more like inconveniences. Because we are more excited about heaven and being with our Shepherd. For we have invested our contentment in the next life. Where have you invested your contentment in? Hebrews 13:5 (NIV): "Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, 'Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.'" We aim to leverage off this technological and digital age, to more effectively provide equipping tools to HIM and the Body of Christ. Leaders simply cannot travel to every church to teach and provide answers. This website enables us to reach across every continent, into any convenient setting. Why is it named wilsonlailing.com? For a number of key reasons: Firstly, it is more personalised and follows the current trend of personalised websites as it helps reach a wider audience. Our heart continues to humbly serve HIM and the wider Body of Christ, to God’s glory. Secondly, the contents are produced by Wilson and Lai Ling except for some guest contributors. Thirdly, the contents will reflect the views of Wilson and Lai Ling and any guest contributors, not necessarily the official HIM views. This facilitates quicker content production and responses to topics of interest. The website accepts donations, who does it go to? All donations proceed to HIM directly and helps fund this project. Can the materials be freely used? All materials on the site are free and can be freely used and disseminated. In fact, we encourage the content to be used as widely as possible. But they are not to be used for profit. Copyright resides with the authors. We ask appropriate acknowledgements be given to authors. Why do we use copyright? We use copyright to protect the integrity of the content produced and to minimise misuse of it. Also to honour those who produced the contents. However, as our heart is to bless the wider Body of Christ, we are making it freely available as described above. How can we best use the content? The podcasts on leadership, intercession and prophetic are short, usually less than 20 mins each for easy use. These are accompanied by discussion guides which include the notes plus discussion and action questions. New podcasts will be produced every month. About About Wilson & Lai Ling Wilson Lim Pastor Wilson Lim was appointed President of Hope International Ministries in 2021 and served as an International Elder since 2010. Wilson is also founding and senior pastor of Hope Church, a multi-ethnic, multi-site church based in Brisbane, Australia. He also oversees HIM churches in Oceania and its mission efforts into different regions of the world. Wilson is recognised for his balanced, in-depth teaching and engaging-style of expository preaching. He also holds a PhD in Engineering and a MTh in Applied Theology. His passion is teaching, equipping leaders and building the church. Lai Ling Pastor Lai Ling co-founded Hope Church and is known for her leadership in intercession and prophetic ministries in HIM and Hope Church. She is also passionate about pastoral care and counselling. Lai Ling assists Wilson in his International Elder’s role.
