- Many challenges... | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 5 July 2023 Many challenges... Consider this. In life, we are faced with all kinds of challenges. The stress of navigating life and dealing with the all the unknowns waiting to pounce at us. Whether it be our health situation. Whether it be the security of our career or income. Whether we find the right partner. Our future. Daily life itself throws up many challenges. How to deal with difficulties in relationships. How to deal with our own emotions. How to make decisions in major areas. The pressures at work. Let alone when crisis pops up of nowhere. We were never meant to navigate all of life’s challenges by ourselves. This is why we need God our Creator. God who is all-knowing, all-wise, all-powerful. He can help us through what we really struggle to work through. Perhaps the big question in the mind of some is, will He? Well, the great assurance to us is that God’s heart of that of a shepherd. John 10:11 (NIV) "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. Let's come to the good shepherd today. Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Recent Posts See All God does not leave us... - God Sees the Heart | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 2 April 2025 God Sees the Heart We may do what seems the right thing but what matters most is whether our hearts are in the right place before God. God warned in Old Testament times that even the very ceremonies that God required would become offensive to Him. Isaiah 66:3 (NIV) But whoever sacrifices a bull is like one who kills a man, and whoever offers a lamb, like one who breaks a dog’s neck; whoever makes a grain offering is like one who presents pig’s blood, and whoever burns memorial incense, like one who worships an idol. They have chosen their own ways, and their souls delight in their abominations; This occurs when we have chosen in our hearts to go our own ways, rather than God's ways. When we inwardly rebel though outwardly we may still do what seem right. May we always watch our hearts before God! - God can use the lowest of the lowest | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 5 June 2025 God can use the lowest of the lowest Are you lowly? Are you insignificant? Have you been despised? Congratulations! God would like to use you. 1 Corinthians 1:27 - 29 (NIV) 27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him. God can use the lowest of the lowest, the most foolish of the foolish, the most despicable of the despised - for His glory! If we would humbly yield to Him, God will take the most lowly of materials to mould into a noble instrument in His hands. Just as He took dirt and formed Adam. So can He will you. - What are we building for God? | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 6 August 2025 What are we building for God? I have the heart of an engineer. Perhaps that is why I enjoyed my time in engineering. Even though I am no longer in CSIRO, I enjoy being an engineer for God, building His Church. So this Scripture continue to challenge me. 1 Corinthians 3:12 - 15 (NIV) 12 If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13 his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man’s work. 14 If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward. 15 If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames. What are we building for God? If we have built with pure hearts and build well, it will stand up scrutiny before God and we will receive our rewards. But if we built with impure motives, it will be burnt up and we will have little to show. Let us examine carefully what we build for Him. - From Weakness to Influence | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 5 February 2025 From Weakness to Influence Whatever God calls us to do, He will cause us to gain the necessary influence in due time to carry out the task. Never think that we are too insignificant or too small to do the will of God. 1 Cor 1:27 (NIV) But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. It is not how strong or wise we are, but how humbly available we are. If you dare to believe the purposes of God that He reveals to you, be assured that He will open doors of opportunity. He will give you influence. For God is in-charge. Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Recent Posts See All God does not leave us... - God instituted a system of restitution | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 2 February 2022 God instituted a system of restitution Something terribly missing from our justice system these days is the concept of “restitution”. God instituted a system of restitution in order to allow for sins to not only be forgiven by God, but so society can deal with the affects to sin. Ex 22:1 "If a man steals an ox or a sheep and slaughters it or sells it, he must pay back five head of cattle for the ox and four sheep for the sheep. Also, by reconciling our past, we are able to deal with the root causes of our sin. The bible doesn’t just say to “stop stealing”, but teaches us to deal with the root reasons why a person steals. Eph 4:28 (NIV) He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need. We learn that the root sins of a thief are laziness and selfishness. Too lazy to work for what the thief wants, and too selfish to care that what they steal belongs to somebody else. So in order to deal with our past stealing, we need to deal with both the laziness by “working with our own hands” and with the selfishness by “ sharing with those in need". - Jack Hayford | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 3 May 2023 Jack Hayford When the glory of God is in a church, it will cause the church to become influential because of its impact. Jack Hayford during the early days of his church “Church on the Way” was a small congregation of 100. One day in 1971 as he was leaving the church sanctuary, he experienced the glory of God. It was as if a light glorious mist hung in the atmosphere and it was just for a moment. Things began to happen to the church and people just started coming! The church grew to over 10,000 people over the decades of his ministry. When God’s glory fills the church and as the church obediently moves in God’s purposes, there will be healing in lives, there will be nourishment for the soul, there will be power to cast out demons, power to heal the sick. There will be righteousness and purity. There will be godliness. Facebook X (Twitter) WhatsApp LinkedIn Pinterest Copy link Recent Posts See All God does not leave us... - Holy discontent... | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 2 October 2024 Holy discontent... Discontent can be holy when it is God-ward. When our focus is God-ward, we begin to see from God’s perspective about situations that need to change. Isa 58:6 (NIV) Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? True fasting brings us into God’s perspective and we gain God’s discontent over unjust situations. Holy discontent is about gaining God’s discontent. Holy discontent is about having righteous attitudes towards sin, injustice, poverty, oppression, etc. Holy discontent is therefore not focussed on our own needs but the needs of others. 1 Cor 10:24 (NIV) Nobody should seek his own good, but the good of others. - Shepherd above all other shepherds | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 2 October 2024 Shepherd above all other shepherds In the Old Testament times, good shepherds are known to be those who truly care for their sheep. Who care for and nurture their sheep with love. Amazingly, God is a sacrificial shepherd who is willing to give even His life for the sake of the sheep. Jesus demonstrated that at the cross. God is the shepherd above all other shepherds, because of His love for His sheep. That is why God is declared as the Great Shepherd, the Chief Shepherd. 1 Peter 5:4 (NIV) And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away. King David recognised in Psalm 23 that God is the key because He is the only one capable of caring for and leading us in the right journey. And God is not only capable, but His heart is to do so. - Our relationship with God... | Wilson & Lai Ling
Reflections Wilson Lim 4 September 2024 Our relationship with God... Our relationship with God is the epicentre of all our relationships. It is central, it is the focal point. Just like an earthquake has an epicentre, so all our relationships has an epicentre. The shockwaves from our relationship with God will impact upon our relationships with others. Saul’s deteriorating relationship with God led to deteriorating relationship with others, notable David and Jonathan. Those that have no relationship with God, will find all their relationships distorted. Those who have minimal relationship with God will find minimal improvements in their relationships. When we truly experience God’s mercy upon our lives and understand its significance, it will motivate us to show mercy to others – God’s way. Luke 6:36 (NIV) Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. We are enabled to be merciful because we experience God’s mercy to us.
