    Reflections Wilson Lim 8 May 2024 Our worship is never meant to be remain quiet... Our worship is never meant to be remain quiet and private. Ps 98:4 (NIV) Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music. Rather we are to shout for joy and to burst forth into jubilant song. When you want to wake up somebody who is sleeping soundly, you do not tiptoe quietly and whisper to them, “Wake up”. You shout, “Wake Up! Jeff!” like in the Wiggles famous act. In the same way, when you want to awaken worship in our hearts, you do not tiptoe and whisper. You stir it, you stimulate it, you revive it. You give it a shot in the arm! Wake up your soul and spirit to worship! Ps 57:8 (NIV) Awake, my soul! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn. So when you come to worship God, it does not help if you are quiet, subdued, reticent in your worship. So if we are wealthy, how then should we live? 1 Timothy 6:18 (NIV)  Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. The rich are to be commanded to be rich in good deeds. They are to make use of their wealth generously to bless others. Why? Because we must understand that we are merely stewards of all we have. That we may use it wisely for His glory and for His kingdom. In the end, God will not measure how much wealth you generated. But how much of your wealth did you use faithfully to bring glory to God. That is why so many psalms were written declaring about God’s deliverance. Psa 63:7 - 8 (NIV)  Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings.  My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me. Hence, should you ever feel low in spirit, it is a good thing to give thanks. To sing songs of praise unto God. Not only do the words lift our hearts, but when we enter into God’s presence, God will minister to us as well.   • Shall we obey God carefully? | Wilson & Lai Ling

    Reflections Wilson Lim 3 July 2024 Shall we obey God carefully? In terms of obeying God, to miss by a little can mean to miss by a lot. Imagine if the scientists that launch space probes to the moon were to miscalculate the trajectory by fraction of a degree. This slight error will lead to the probe missing the moon by thousands of kilometres! When we choose not to be detailed in our obedience to God, our partial obedience is not obedience, but disobedience. Sometimes going further than what God has said can also lead to disobedience! Yonggi Cho shared about a major building project where he started to build a huge new church auditorium. He felt God gave him the ok for the project. So they started building as they raised funds. But a national economic crisis occurred and the church was not able to raise enough funds. The church got stuck in the middle of the building project with huge debts. Cho sold everything he had to help pay the debt but it was so bad he became depressed and almost committed suicide. God later showed him the problem was Cho added another major building to the project which God never gave the ok for. Deuteronomy 5:33 (NIV): "Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess."     Reflections Wilson Lim 5 June 2025 We cannot have it both ways We may not like it, but Jesus put it bluntly. We cannot have it both ways. Mark 8:35 (NIV) For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it. Either we are concerned only for ourselves, how we may selfishly gain things for ourselves or we willingly lose it for Jesus. If our concern is with how we get along in this world, we can never truly follow Jesus because we will simply end up compromising all the way. That's why God never gave us the option to choose both. It will never work. Either we hold onto our live as if it is everything. Or we willingly consider it as lost for the sake of gaining Christ. John 2:15 (NIV) Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. Which are we choosing?     Reflections Wilson Lim 6 November 2024 A freewill offering Exodus 35:21-22 (NIV) 21  and everyone who was willing and whose heart moved him came and brought an offering to the LORD for the work on the Tent of Meeting, for all its service, and for the sacred garments. 22  All who were willing, men and women alike, came and brought gold jewelry of all kinds: brooches, earrings, rings and ornaments. They all presented their gold as a wave offering to the LORD. The Israelites began to come forward and to give willingly unto the building of the tabernacle. All kinds of things were given as a freewill offering. A freewill offering is an offering given freely, without compulsion, without obligation. A giving because our hearts moved us. Hence it must be distinguished from tithes. Tithes are required by God. A tenth of our gross income is a tithe unto God. It is an obligation to God, not in a legalistic sense but as a principle. Freewill offerings are given on top of the tithe because we want to give freely extra. Are we giving biblically today? Since He functions like a family in the Godhead, He designs the human race to function in families. In the same way, He has designed His Church to function like a family. Ephesians 3:14 - 15 (NIV) For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. We are encouraged to view one another as brothers and sisters. We are instructed to treat older believers as fathers and mothers. We are entreated to have sons and daughters in the faith. The language of family.     Reflections Wilson Lim 9 November 2022 We may seem insignificant amongst people. We may seem insignificant amongst people. But God knows His chosen instrument well. Despite our family background, our past, our social background, our age perhaps, or feeling like being a nobody, God makes us into somebody because of Christ. Whether we have feelings of intimidation, being overlooked, being underqualified . Jesus is impartial to all, He will use anyone to fulfil His work for the good of all. One’s significance may not just be a periodic battle, but it can be our very daily grind! Remember God’s Word when you are hit by feelings of insignificance. 1 Cor 1:27(NIV) But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.     Reflections Wilson Lim 7 May 2025 Encounter with God If you just had your greatest encounter with God, what would you do next? Mark 9:2 - 5 (NIV) 2 … There he was transfigured before them. 3 His clothes became dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them. 4 And there appeared before them Elijah and Moses, who were talking with Jesus. 5 Peter said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.” Peter, James and John had a revelation of God's glory they have never experienced before. It was a tremendous miracle before their very eyes. Jesus shone with glory and Elijah and Moses appeared. The two greatest prophets in the OT. Peter was so excited about his experience of God. "This is it. I have reached the pinnacle of my experience with God. This is the experience of all experiences of God. This is THE experience. I have made it - God has counted me so close to His heart that He chose to reveal His glory to me! So let's make 3 shelters. So that we can continue to be in awe at this tremendous revelation. We can all camp here. We don't need to go any further. Let's stay put." Many Christians say the same thing. Let's stop right here - in our experience of God and just enjoy it. We are contented with our present experience with God. No need to journey any further. Do we put our focus on the experience and stop there?     Reflections Wilson Lim 2 October 2024 True contentment... Carnality is a shown by worldly desire for more. It is about “I want!” It is a desire impossible to satisfy. The more we have the more we want. More shoes, better smartphones, better laptops, more expensive cars and houses! On the other hand, true contentment is not so much about whether we have all we want. True contentment is about a state of heart where there is a satisfaction, a peace with what we have. It is no longer, “I shall not want because God provides all”. Rather it is “I shall not want because my desires have been transformed.” “Truly, the secret of contentment is not having much but wanting little.” Matthew Henry. Which state are we in today? Philippians 4:11-12 (NIV): "I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want."
